Workshop Corpus-based Perspectives on Semantic Structure in Translation Studies and Theoretical Linguistics

Short description of the workshop:
This workshop wants to stimulate discussion between related disciplines in Linguistics and Translation Studies on the topic of semantic modelling. Two main questions are addressed: (i) how can semantic structure be objectively operationalized, measured and visualized by means of corpus data (e.g., prototypical vs. peripheral senses of polysemous lexemes, near-synonymy…); (ii) how can corpus-based models of semantic structure inform theoretical accounts in Translation Studies and Theoretical Linguistics. Different related approaches are presented, coming from translation studies, variational linguistics, cognitive linguistics and computational linguistics.
